Rhonda Skillern-Jones has been the District II trustee since 2011, and her seat will be up for election in 2019. Rhonda is the current Board President and is serving her second term on the board. Previously, she has served the board as assistant secretary, secretary, and first vice president.
Rhonda currently works as the community engagement director for Harris County Precinct One. She represents HISD on the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Board of Directors. She is also Vice Chair of the Steering Committee for the National School Boards Association’s Council of Urban Boards of Education (CUBE), and Vice Chair of the Texas Caucus of Black School Board Members in addition to other organizational memberships.
