Houston ISD Accountability Trackers

Houston GPS is dedicated to keeping the HISD Board of Education accountable for good governance and quality education for the children of Houston. As part of this effort, we track the school board’s performance through multiple measures. Below are accountability trackers that can be used to evaluate the performance of the board and individual trustees.

The Houston GPS Vote Tracker monitors key votes made by the HISD Board of Education. Each vote is broken down by trustee and more details can be viewed by hovering over the votes. For more information about each agenda item, you can visit our GPS Navigator archives or visit the HISD website for the official agendas. As part of Houston GPS’s work in advocating for effective school board governance, we attend each school board meeting and grade the trustees on our five core values: impact, collaboration, stewardship, equity, and leadership. See our rating chart to see each trustee’s overall rating over time. To learn more about our ratings, see our Mission and Core Values and our grading rubric.

Lone Star Governance (LSG) recommends that school boards spend at least half of their time focused on monitoring student outcome goals. Houston GPS tracks the time that the HISD school board spends on student outcome goals at each meeting and agenda review in accordance with the LSG standards. The time trackers are meant to hold the board accountable for what matters most: student success. If our graphs are not rendering properly, please refresh the webpage.
